W
hile reading the words of Mr Takiff
and the veterans who were willing
toshare with him and with us, I
have come close to tears and felt
proud, sad,happy, ashamed, angry
(no, pissed off), and honored. Sometimes,
all at thesame time. Get this book
and read, but be prepared. In the
introducton, Mr.Takiff described
a conversation with his father when
he was near death. Hisdad said,
"You might say that the war
was the high point of my life."
Ithink that all of us who were there
can say the same.
